Sokoto state deputy governor, Mukhtari Shagari, on Wednesday in Sokoto said that the loyalty of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to President Goodluck Jonathan was not in doubt.
Shagari made the statement at the distribution of 267 motorcycles and five 406 cars he donated to the leaders of the party in the state.
Shagari said “our support to the president is based on merit”.
He also described the president as a trusted leader who always lived by examples for the people to follow.
Shagari said that the motorcycles were to be given to the chairmen of the party in the 244 wards of the state and the secretaries of the party in the 23 local government areas.
He said that the vehicles were to be given to the state PDP secretary, youth leader, women leader, and his campaign director.
Shagari also said that the vehicles were given to support the leaders and ease their suffering in conducting the activities of the party.
The deputy governor who is a gubernatorial aspirant of the party in the state, also pledged to give another set of 69 motorcycles which to be distributed to the local government youth leaders, treasurers and public relation officers.
The Chairman of the PDP in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Milgoma, commended Shagari for the gesture, describing him as “a genuine leader to always emulate”.
He assured the people that PDP in Sokoto State was now ready to face any challenges during the forthcoming general elections.
