Eid-el-Kabir: Osogbo motor parks record large number of travellers

A large number of passengers, travelling to various parts of the country for the Eid-el-kabir celebration, was recorded on Friday in different motor parks within Osogbo metropolis.
NAN reports that at the popular Idi-Seke Park, passengers who were travelling to the western part of the country, were seen in their numbers, negotiating the transport fares with commercial drivers.
A commuter at the park, Mrs. Kuburat Tijani, told NAN that she decided to leave very early because there would be an influx of passengers.
She, however, said the fare was still normal at the park in spite the large number of passengers.
“They have not increased the fare for now; it is still the same old price”.
Another passenger at the Fakunle Park, Alhaja Sekinat Ibrahim, said the celebration might not be elaborate because of lack of fund.
She said that might be the reason drivers at the park did not make any attempt to jerk up the fare.
“Sincerely, things are tight; there is no money; we just have to celebrate because we are alive to witness the special moment. I ought to have travelled yesterday if I was buoyant.
“I have the feelings that the economic reality in town made the fare to be stable; they know that any attempt to increase the fare will be counterproductive,” she said.
Also at the Ota-Efun park, a commuter, Mr. Femi Ojomo, travelling to Lokoja to celebrate the festivity with his family, said every festival was worth celebrating, irrespective of one’s faith.
According to him, the religious orientation of the people in the South West does not create any room for segregation or discrimination on religious ground in any way.
“We are happy and indeed grateful to God for sparing our life up till this moment in the face of array of challenges in the country. As for me, every festivity is worth celebrating.
“You know we in the South West do not see religion as a barrier; I came from a Muslim background. In fact, my wife is a daughter of a sheikh and a pious Muslim, but I now attend church.
“The difference in religion does not affect our relationship whatsoever; that is why I am travelling now to celebrate with them,” he stated.
