Ogun begins screening of Christian pilgrims

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State

The Ogun Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board on Saturday commenced screening of candidates for the 2014 Holy Pilgrimage to Israel, Greece and Rome, NAN reports.

The screening took place at the board’s secretariat in Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta.

The Chairman of the board, Bishop Julius Ogunseye, said at the venue of the screening that the exercise was to ensure a hitch- free pilgrimage.

He explained that the board needed to ascertain the health status of the intending pilgrims so as to prevent any medical challenge.

“We have to confirm that the intending pilgrims are free from ailments like high blood pressure, malaria and Ebola virus disease,” he said.

The chairman urged the candidates to cooperate with the medical team handling the exercise by providing correct and necessary information concerning their health.

The cleric commended the state government for its support to the board and gave an assurance that the pilgrimage would be hitch free.

He added that the pilgrims would be counseled to be good ambassadors of the state.

Ogunseye said the candidates would also be screened by officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Nigeria Custom Service, State Security Service and the Nigeria Police.
