Northern Youth Assembly has issued the Federal Government of Nigeria a three-week ultimatum to constitute a commission of enquiry into the recent arm deal scandal in South Africa or else it will take the case before the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

The National President of the assembly, Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya, stated this while answering questions from journalists in Kano, during his meeting with other civil society organizations in an attempt to canvass support for the campaign.

According to the President the assembly it is for the interest of the nation’s unity to demand for the truth on the arms deal.

He added that the assembly is preparing alongside other concerned Nigerian youth groups from the South to involve the UN Security Council in the matter for proper investigations, especially as the issue has an international face.

The ultimatum, according to the president of the assembly, will expired on 18 October 2014.
