The Lagos budget proposal for the year 2015 scheduled to be presented to the State House of Assembly by Governor Babatunde Fashola on Monday has been cancelled.

This is supposed to be the last budget presentation of the governor as he leaves office on 29 May, 2015.

The cancellation came about 48 hours before its presentation as sources at the Government House said the suspension of the budget presentation was a result of the distribution of the Permanent Voter’s Cards in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

This was, however, not confirmed by the House as calls made to the mobile phone of the House spokesman failed, but it was learnt that the presentation was put on hold so that the state could monitor effectively the distribution of the PVC which had allegedly been shoddy since it began last Friday.

It is not known when the presentation would now hold, but lawmakers who spoke told P.M.NEWS that it would be as soon as possible so as to allow the members, who themselves are pursuing their various political ambitions, to begin the scrutiny of the document.

The Leader of the State House of Assembly, Ajibayo Adeyeye, had last Thursday announced on the floor of the House that the governor would be presenting the budget on Monday.

The House agreed on the date and the time for the presentation after the announcement was made.
