PVC: Student groups urge youths to go for CVR Exercise

As the Continous Voters Registration, CVR begins today in Ogun state, student union leaders from various tertiary institutions in the state have joined other Nigerians to appeal to all students in the state to come out and participate actively in the exercise.

The collection of the Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCS) for those who had already registered their names ended in the state on Monday. but the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had announced that begining from 12
to 17 November, the continuous voters registration will hold. This will afford those whose name was omitted in the last voters’ registration exercise and those who have attained the statutory age of 18 to register.

Speaking on behalf of other student leaders across the tertiary institutions in the state, Comrade Tunbosun Onasanya reminded the students that their votes are crucial in the forthcoming elections; hence they should take the registration exercise seriously.

Onasanya, a.k.a BOSWAS who is the students union leader of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Ojere, Abeokuta disclosed this at an event organised by the union leaders, as part of their own support for the government to sensitise their colleagues on why they shouldn’t treat the registration exercise with levity.

Other union leaders of the event includes those of Tai Solarin University of Education, TASUED, Ijagun, Comrade Ekeyopa Sunday Osas; Federal College of Education, FCE, Osiele, Abeokuta, Comrade Idowu Oluwagbemileke Daniel; Federal University of Agriculture, FUNAAB, Abeokuta, Comrade Olawale Peter Olajumoke; SUG Vice President, Ogun state Cooperative College, Ijeja, Abeokuta, Comrade Olalekan Opeyemi Oladeji and President, Students Union Government, D.S. Adegbenro Polytechnic, Itori, Comrade Akin Michael Ayibiowu.

Others are the President of the National Association of Ogun State Students, NAOSS, Comrade Adesina Adeleye and the President of the National Association of the Nigerian Students, NASS Comrade Okikiola Ogunsola, a.k.a. Okiki Aluta and other past and present student union leaders from the state.

At the ceremony which attracted a large number of students, the student leaders announced the unanimous endorsement of the state Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Dr. Lanre Tejuoso as the preferred candidate for the Ogun Central Senatorial seat in the 2015 elections.

Tejuoso had declared his intention to contest the senatorial seat, which also has the Deputy Chief of Staff to the governor, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu, former House of Representatives members and national auditor of the PDP, Bode Mustapha and a serving federal lawmaker, representing Mushin Constituency, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat.

According to the student leaders, “The entire leadership of Ogun students under the auspices of the National Association of Nigeria Students, National Association of Ogun State Students and other local government Student Unions, endorse Dr. Lanre Tejuoso for the 2015 general elections.

They cited what they described as unsurpassed achievements of Tejuoso, the Prince of Osile-Oke-Ona Egba, as commissioner. They said he has made a triumphant achievement in all the three ministries he has served in the state.
