At least 1,000 Nigerian students studying in various universities in Benin Republic will converge on Ecole Professionalle Speciallise, EPS to celebrate Freshers’ and Jersey Night.

P.M.NEWS Campus Square gathered that the event billed to hold at the EPS’ main campus on Friday, 14 November, will attract the creme-de-la-creme of the tertiary institutions all over the country.

Peter Afolayan, the Nigerian Students’ Union Government, SUG PRO, told our correspondent that the event is an annual celebration to welcome the ‘Jambites’ as well as bring fans of football clubs together.

The 300-level student of the Nursing Department added that, “this year, we are looking forward to a massive turnout of participants because we have put in a lot to organise this event.

“It is just like an initiation into the academic world and life in Benin generally. During the event, we educate the newly admitted students on how to live their lives in this country.

“Everybody is invited but the event is mainly for our Nigerian brothers and sisters who are apparently new to the system on ground here.”

One of our sources in the country’s tertiary institutions also said Nigerian students are planning big ahead of the festive season.

“There will be a big concert here in December, but the modalities are yet to be finalised.

“We shall keep you abreast of the details when everything is officially settled. But I can assure you that it will be a great one,” the source said.

The EPS is one of the universities in Benin Republic with a large representation of Nigerian students drawn from all parts of the country.
