The Ogun State Government has offered employment to 430 teachers recently laid off by the Federal Government.
The teachers, who were disengaged after completion of a one-year contract work under the Federal Government Teaching Scheme (FTS), are now to be deployed to fill existing vacancies in the 20 Local Government Areas of the State.
While presenting letters to the lucky teachers yesterday in a colourful event at the board headquarters in Abeokuta, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Mufutau Ajibola disclosed that additional 100 teachers, who specialize in Arabic language were also employed so as to reduce the deficit in the sector.
He urged the teachers, who according to him, were selected purely on merit after writing compulsory examinations, to reciprocate the good gesture of the Ibikunle Amosun led administration by remaining resolute and committed in the discharge of their delegated duties.
Ajibola described the midas touch of the government in the education sector as unparalleled.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Ayo Orunsolu and Philip Abiodun, expressed their profound gratitude to the state government for believing in their abilities and cushioning the effect of the hardship they went through after their disengagement.
They assured government of their unflinching support for its programmes and policies.
