Police Officer's Husband Commits Suicide

The husband of a serving  female police sergeant attached to Police College, Ikeja, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, has committed suicide.

The deceased whose names could not be ascertained by P.M.NEWS at the time of filing this report, was alleged to have drank poison at their residence, Flat 7, Block Y, Police Band Barracks, Ikeja, opposite Area ‘F’ Command.

According to a neighbour of the deceased who craved for anonymity, the couple always quarrelled in the house until last Saturday when the man decided to take his own life.

The couple’s neghbour also said two policemen were sent from Ikeja Police Division to the flat when they were infomed about what happened on the fateful day and when they got there they met the deceased vomiting and urinating blood. But he died before he could be taken to the hospital.

P.M.NEWS also gathered that the couple lived like a recluse as they did not associate with their neighbours.

The deceased was said to be a native of Ondo State.

When P.M.NEWS reporter visited Ikeja Police Station for further details after calls made to the Lagos State Police Public relations officer, Mr Ken Nwosu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police were not answered, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the station said he could not talk to the press.

The deceased has been taken to his home town for burial.
