The only female Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant in the race for Lagos state seat of power, Mrs. Modupe Chukwueke on Monday withdrew from the race.
Chukwueke withdrew at the venue of the primary few minutes to the commencement of accreditation of voters for the election.
The governorship primary is ongoing at Yard 158, Plot 34 Oregun Road, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, with all aspirants in attendance.
Speaking during an interview with the press, she said that the PDP was the only party that had the Igbo people’s interest at heart.
She urged her supporters who are mostly Igbo to continue to support the party so that they would defeat the All Progressives Congress at the poll.
She thanked the PDP for giving her a chance to be able to contest.
Accreditation for the election commenced at about 5:00 p.m. and ended at few minutes passed 7:00 p.m.
