A graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, disc jockey, Olanrewaju Yunus, famously known as DJ Nesco is one personality currently making waves in the entertainment industry. The tall, handsome and friendly DJ in his early 30s reveals to Kayode Aponmade what makes him tick
What led you to be a DJ?
I have always loved music. I made up my mind to be a DJ while still in secondary school in the mid-90s. So when I gained admission, I took the opportunity to perfect the trade. I started playing at birthday parties and school events to hone my skills but upon graduation I became a full-time DJ
Was your family supportive of your career path?
Nobody supported me at first, it was so bad I had to keep it a secret from them considering my background but I kept on doing it till they found out
Can you mention a few places you have performed?
I have played at several highbrow nightclubs from Ikeja to the Island, Oniru, Elegushi and I have also played at a handful of celebrity events to mention a few
What are your hobbies?
Listening to music, nothing beats that, playing video games and chatting on social networks, my facebook username is DjNescoLanrey
When was your happiest moment?
Every time people commend me for a job well done is a happy moment for me. You can’t put a price on that, it makes me extremely happy
When was your lowest moment?
When I got robbed after playing at a bigwig’s occasion, everything on me was collected including a brand new player I got three weeks earlier. I lost more than N300,000 that day.
Has it been rewarding being a DJ?
Yes being a disc jockey has been fulfilling and it’s been fun rolling with the crème de la crème
To what do you owe your success?
Firstly God, he made everything possible, also my mom and my family, they are wonderful.
