Former Secretary to Edo State Government, Professor Julius Ihonvbere, has been recalled back to his duty post by the State governor, Comrade Adams Eric Oshiomhole.

According to a press statement issued by Mr. Peter Okhiria, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Oshiomhole, Ihonvbere’s reinstatement follows a review of, and a resolution on the issues which led to the resignation of the SSG on Tuesday, 9 December 2014.

The statement said Prof. Ihonvbere’s reinstatement is with immediate effect.

It would be recalled that Mr. Okhiria had on Tuesday, 9 December, 2014, issued a press statement to the effect that Prof. Ihonvbere resigned his appointment as secretary to the state government a day after he lost the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Edo North senatorial district primary election.

In another development, the State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Mobilisation, Hon. Chris Okaeben, has resigned his appointment in line with the electoral and constitutional requirements which mandate political appointees to resign 45 days before an election.

Hon Okaeben who is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Oredo West Constituency in the House of Assembly election holding in February, 2015, thanked the governor for the opportunity given him to serve.

Governor Oshiomhole who accepted the resignation of Hon. Okaeben, thanked him for his contributions to the Edo project and wished him a resounding success in the February election.

Okaeben would however be remembered for his last engagement as the state commissioner in charge of youth and sports. He had threatened to sack all female players of the state-owned Edo Queens for protesting the non payment of their salaries of two years.
