Okorocha postpones 2015 budget presentation to honour late lawmaker

The Imo government on Monday said it postponed the presentation of 2015 budget following the death of a lawmaker, Mrs Eudora Igwe.
This was made known by Mr Sam Onwuemeodo, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Rochas Okorocha, in a statement to newsmen in Owerri.
Onwuemeodo said the budget would now be presented on December 31. He added that the postponement was to allow the House to conduct valedictory session for their deceased colleague.
NAN reports that until her death, Igwe was representing Ideato North State Constituency. Igwe would be buried in her hometown on December 30.
Onwuemeodo noted that “the leadership of the House and the Executive Governor, agreed to shift the scheduled 2015 budget presentation to December 31 by 3:00 p.m. at the usual venue.”
He noted that Governor Okorocha had commiserated with the husband and the entire family and members of the assembly over the death.
He added that the governor expressed shock when he received the sad news of the death of the parliamentarian.
“Already the governor has directed that all state functions fixed for Monday, December 29 and Tuesday, December 30, including the scheduled 2015 budget presentation be postponed, in honour of the late lawmaker.”
The governor regretted that the legislator died when her service to both God and humanity were mostly needed, the special assistant noted.
He said Okorocha had urged the family and all those left behind to be consoled by the fact that as Christians, they would one day meet again to part no more.
