Contrary to earlier reports that the Ogun State chapter of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has picked former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole as it its governorship candidate for the state, P.M.NEWS can authoritatively report that Senator Akin Odunsi representing Ogun West in the Senate is the actual candidate.
P.M.NEWS gathered that Senator Odunsi will be presented to SDP supporters on Wednesday to fly the party’s flag in the 28 February governorship election in the state.
Confirming this development to P.M.NEWS on phone, a source close to the party’s leadership in Abeokuta, said Odunsi is the governorship candidate of the party.
The source also dismissed reports that the party was begging Dimeji Bankole to accept its governorship ticket, stressing that on the contrary, it was Bankole that was begging the leadership of the party to make him the candidate of the party.
Odunsi who is also the Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee of the Nigerian Air Force, is a popular advocate for change of Egbado North and Egbado South Local Government Areas to Yewa North and Yewa South Local Government.
