The claims that General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, does not have any academic credentials, may have been finally laid to rest as it has been confirmed that he graduated from the United States Army War College in 1980.

According to SaharaReporters, the college confirmed this on Thursday last week.

In an email response to Sunday Iwalaiye, a US-based Nigerian who contacted the institution in view of the controversy about the General’s academic credentials, Carrol Kerr, the school’s Public Affairs Officer, said that Buhari earned a diploma.  He was at that time a colonel.

“It is instructive that the American public institution’s response to Iwalaiye arrived within 17 minutes of his inquiry,” said SaharaReporters.

Ms. Kerr also confirmed that the college began to award Masters degrees with the class of 2000.

Social media rodents who appear to be working for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have been taunting and denigrating the retired General that he did not go to school, even when he and his supporters have consistently insisted that he has academic credentials and that the certificates were with the Nigerian military authorities.
