The operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Lagos Command, have arrested four suspected armed robbers who allegedly raided a popular hotel in Okokomaiko, a suburb of Lagos, western Nigeria, and carted away about N5 million.

The suspects identified as Chinonso, Kadiri, Bashiru and Rashidi allegedly stormed the hotel recently and robbed the staff and the lodgers at 8 pm at gun point.

They reportedly ransacked every room and dispossessed the lodgers of their properties including cash in local and foreign currencies.

Those affected were mostly businessmen and women who were billed to travel out of the country for business transaction.

After the suspects escaped, SARS operatives were alerted of the operation and they began trailing them.

Their efforts paid off as one of the suspects, Chinonso, was arrested.

His alleged confession led to the arrest of three other suspects.

Police sources confirmed their arrest.

Also recovered from them were assorted weapons and ammunition including AK47, pump action rifles and six locally made guns.

P.M.NEWS gathered that other members of the gang, including the son of a traditional ruler in Lagos State, escaped.

The four men are currently being detained at the police cell at SARS where they are being interrogated.

The suspects have also allegedly confessed to their involvement in robbery operations both within and outside Lagos.

Police sources said the men have given useful information which would assist the police to arrest the other fleeing gang members.

The sources said the four men would be charged to court after the conclusion of  investigation.
