Alhaji Yusuf Agabi, the PDP governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, has promised to increase the minimum wage of civil servants in the state if elected.

Agabi made the promise at news conference in Keffi on Friday ahead of the inauguration of his campaign on January 24.

He noted that the welfare of the state’s workforce was pivotal to the overall development of all sectors of the state.

“I will not pronounce any amount now but I am assuring civil servants of increment on the N18,000 minimum wage to a level that will be reasonable,” he said.

He said his priority would include security, education, agriculture, infrastructure and employment.

Agabi assured of an inclusive administration through genuine reconciliation.

On education, the governorship candidate promised to provide free education that would alleviate the plight of parents and guardians.

He also promised to develop the Mararaba axis as the economic hub of the state to boost Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through Public Private Partnership arrangement.

Sen. Walid Jibrin, Secretary, Board of Trustee (BOT) of the PDP, called on all aggrieved members of the party to bury their differences and support the governorship candidate.

“It is natural for people to feel aggrieved after every contest but let us accept Yusuf Agabi’s emergence as the flag bearer of the PDP,” he said.

He cautioned the people of the state against indulging in politics of religion adding that it had never been an issue in Nasarawa state.

“We will not allow anyone to divide us along religious lines because there is hardly a family in the state where you will not find adherents of both religions,” he said.

He urged the people to turn out en masse on February 14 and 28 to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan and Agabi.
