Otunba Gbenga Daniel has described President Goodluck Jonathan as the best president Nigeria as ever produced, adding that, he should be re-elected for a second term in office.
The former governor of Ogun state and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made the assertion on Monday during the inauguration of a 22-man Ogun State Presidential Advisory Committee for Jonathan’s re-election campaign.
The event took place at the old Labour Party state secretariat, known as Legacy House situated along Onikolobo area of Abeokuta, the state capital.
Daniel said that Jonathan’s administration had done a lot in transforming the country more than any other past President or Head of State.
“I stand before you and you know that I have never deceived you, that President Goodluck Jonathan is one of the best performing president in the history of our country. For many years, the train system in Nigeria collapsed. It is as if we are now dreaming, to know find out that train in Nigeria has started to work. This was made possible by Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
“We don’t want to talk about what has happened to our roads but from the totality of what we have seen in our environment the work on the roads from Lagos-Sagamu-Ibadan and from Lagos-Sagamu-Benin and many other roads, I must tell you that I have travelled far and wide in this country, in terms of roads constructions, we must give it to President Jonathan.
“With what we have said on the roads and railways, we can equally say it about the nation’s airports. For those of you who travel by air, you will discover that what has happened in terms of renovations in all our airports is worth commendation. The totality of what I have said is that in terms of dividends of democracy, President Goodluck Jonathan is number one,” Daniel posited.
The committee members inaugurated were Hon. Segun Seriki as state coordinator. Other members of the committee includes former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. (Mrs) Titi Shodunke-Oseni; Senator Lekan Mustapha; Hon. Dave Salako; Chief (Mrs) Iyabo Apampa; former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Alhaji Sarafadeen Ishola; former PDP State Chairman, Elder Joju Fadairo and Chief Remi Bakare.
Others are Chief (Mrs) Gloria Shoda, Alhaji Lamidi Odulawa, Sen. Ayodeji Otegbola, Chief Kola Onadipe and Otunba Gbenga Daniel will serve as the Adviser General of the Committee.
The Committee Chairman, Segun Seriki in his remarks called on Nigerians to vote massively for the PDP presidential candidate and other candidates of the party contesting for various political posts.
Seriki, an aspirant to the Federal House of Representatives maintained that only the party, if voted into power, would continue to move the nation forward.
Notable party leaders in the state who were absent at the programme today includes the former Minister for Finance (State), Senator Jubril Martins-Kuye, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole, National Auditor of the party, Alhaji Wole Adeyanju, PDP Chairman in the State, Engr. Bayo Dayo.
