Kidnappers Demand N40m From Newspaper Agent

Kidnappers in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, southwest Nigeria, have demanded the sum of N40 million from the family of a newspaper distributor, Mrs Funlayo Ajayi.

Mrs Ajayi, who is a major distributor of leading national newspapers and magazines in the area, was reportedly abducted on Monday along Ejinrin road by four gunmen and taken to an unknown destination.

The case has reported to the police at the Ijebu Ode Police Area Command in Igbeba and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operation, Akpoebi Egbuson was said to have deployed the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad to the area to fish out the kidnappers.

The kidnappers were however said to have reached out to Ajayi’s family members and demanded N40 million for her release.

A family source said that the victim was allowed by the kidnappers to speak on phone  to her immediate family members and associates.

The family member said she told them that the kidnappers insist on collecting ransom from her.
