Some residents of Lokoja have decried the endemic poor power supply in the Kogi State capital.

Mr Saidu Atuluku, a resident of New Layout, told NAN, in Lokoja on Thursday that the situation was becoming unbearable “especially now that the weather is hot.”

He added that the situation was getting worse and people were helpless due to low voltage/lack of constant power supply.

“Since the heat started, I find it hard to sleep at nights as there is no power for fan or air conditioner to work.”

Ms Afolabi, a resident of Adankolo, said lack of electricity, especially at nights, was having a negative effect on her life.

“My new bundle of joy (baby) no longer sleeps the way he used to, due to the heat.

“I expected that there will be enough power supply for our fans, air conditioners and refrigerator but the situation is getting worse and unbearable instead.

“It is unfortunate that power supply is getting worse at the time we need it most,” Afolabi said

She noted Federal Government’s position that irregular supply of electricity will continue unless vandalism of gas pipeline was stopped.

She, therefore, called on government to stop the gas pipeline vandalism in order to improve electricity supply in the state as and in the country in general.
