The Rivers state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned an attempt on the life of a stalwart of the party, Engr. Chukwudi Dimkpa by gunmen who stormed his residence at Agip Housing Estate, Rumueme in Port Harcourt.

A statement signed by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser (Media) to state PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah said four armed men had in the early hours of Saturday, February 21, 2015 attacked Dimkpa who narrowly survived the attack and is now recuperating in a private hospital in Port Harcourt.

The party reinstated its determination to enthrone a people friendly government in Rivers state, adding that, neither threats, intimidation nor unprovoked attacks would sway its determination to pursue this goal.

According to PDP, while the party expressed gratitude to God Almighty whose mercies ensured the survival of Dimkpa, it called on the police and other security agencies to investigate the incident and bring the masterminds to book.

PDP also urged the police to up its surveillance function and closely monitor the activities of APC who they said, are hell bent to truncate the forthcoming elections.
