Kukah urges women to caution family against electoral violence

The Cathoilic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Rev. Fr Mathew Kukah, on Sunday urged women to caution their husbands and children against engaging in violence during the forthcoming general elections.
Kukah made the call at a Thanks-Giving Service held in his honour by the St. Johns Catholic Church, Kakuri, Kaduna.
“Tell your children and husbands that only the living can enjoy democracy.
“All negative anxieties about the elections must be put aside by Nigerians, and come out en-mass to vote,” he said.
The bishop further said that the forthcoming elections were significant as Nigerians “will be voting for stability and future of the country.”
According to him, coming out to vote will help install the right leadership that will serve the common good of all Nigerians.
Kukah urged Nigerians, particularly Christians, to trust in God, and exercise their franchise.
He said God was in control and had a divine plan for Nigeria, which must come to pass.
The bishop advised registered voters from Borno, Adamawa and Yobe, who were displaced by current insurgency, to also vote, wherever they found themselves.
He said this was necessary as their suffering could be a “stepping stone to greatness”.
