First Lady harps on involvement of youths, women in governance

The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan on Friday stressed the need for more women and youths to get involved in governance of the country.
She made the call at the PDP Women rally in Owerri, Imo.

Jonathan said that involvement of those concerned in governance would give them opportunity to contribute to national development.

“Nigerian women are intelligent and capable, this is why President Jonathan has promised them 45 per cent affirmative action,” she said.

She enjoined Imo women to collect their PVCs to enable them cast their votes for President Jonathan in the general election scheduled for March 28 and April 11, respectively.

She described her husband as a man of integrity who keeps to his promises.

Jonathan added that PDP was the only credible party that had the interest of women in its transformation agenda.

The first lady commended women for their support as well as the warm reception they accorded her and her entourage.
