Medical Students Association Seeks Release Of Abducted Colleague

The Nigerian Medical Students Association, NIMASA, has appealed to security operatives in the country to help ensure the release of one of its colleagues, Anita Sewuese Afor, who was kidnapped over a month ago.
The abductors of the 200-level Medical Student of Enugu State University, according to information made available to P.M.NEWS Campus Square, have demanded a ransom of N10 million which the family has been unable to pay.
According to Seriki, Muritala, President of NIMASA, “We are deeply distressed by this development and appeal to the Enugu State Command of the Nigerian Police to put in more effort in ensuring her quick and safe return.
“Meanwhile, we enjoin the Governors of Benue and Enugu states to see to providing all the support needed to secure her freedom from her captors.
“We appeal that no stone is left unturned until our dear colleague is gotten back and unharmed. Members of the public with useful information should please make them available to the police.”
While sympathising with the family of the abducted student, NIMASA assured them that their daughter would return safely.
“Our heart goes out to the parents of the lady. We implore them to stay strong and have faith that their daughter would be released to them, safe and sound.
“Security officials and all quarters concerned are charged to ensure an end to the spate of abduction of citizens by notorious persons.
“We must say the abduction of medical students especially in Eastern Nigeria is becoming a worrisome trend and necessary actions should be taken to curb this recurring incident.
“The safety of medical students, who are studying to give hope of a sustainable future, should be taken seriously,” the president added.
