Nigerian football coaches have continued to react to the death of former U-23 national team, Coach Willy Bazuaye who died yesterday at the age of 80.
Former head coach of Nigeria’s U-17 male national team died on Monday in Benin after a 12-years battle with stroke.
According to ex Super Eagles coach, Adegboye Onigbinde, the death of Bazuaye came as a shock to him. He described the deceased as a hardworking and gentle coach who performed well during the time he handled Golden Eaglets and the Olympic national team.
“His death came as a shock to me and other Nigerian coaches. Bazuaye had done well for the country and I believe that Nigerian coaches will never forget his works and achievements he brought to the country,” he said.
Racine Football Club’s Coach, Seyi Abidemi said Bazuaye was a father to all young coaches, adding that the coaching experience of Edo State-born coach could not be quantified as far football coaching is concerned in Nigeria.
In his own remark, Chief Coach of Nigeria Deaf Football national team, Kamilu Banjo said Bazuaye played his own part for the national teams and he deserved to be immortalised and celebrated. Bazuaye, who led the Golden Eaglets to their maiden victory in China in 1985, died at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin.
