Despite the shock defection of Tele Ikuru, the deputy governor, from All Progressive Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday, Governor Rotimi Amaechi on Tuesday hit the road and streets of Elele-Alimini ward 9 of Ikwerre Local Government area of the state.

Amaechi who is from Ikwerre local Government led APC loyalists in door-to-door campaign in Elele Alimini ward 9 a walk round the entire streets of Elele Alimini along side Hon. Chidi Lloyd, the leader of Rivers Assembly, Hon. Peter Emejuru and the entire ward 9 APC members.

He made several stops including buying water from shop and stalls; playing draft, engaging public discussions and having mutual chat with natives of Ikwerre. He embraced elderly men and women interacted with the youths.

He caused pleasant stir in the entire community as men and women came out screaming his name.

Some called him the “Lion of Ubima” (Amaechi is Ubima in Ikwerre LGA)” while others chanted “the strongest governor and leader of change is here”

Some who were surprised to see him walk on the streets, play draft and discuss with natives ran in to their houses to call other village folks to behold their son.

Amaechi, who wore a sleeveless shirt trekked through the nooks and crannies of Ward 9.
