The nine persons arrested in Lagos State for alleged elections’ related offenses on March 28, have remained in police cell without being prosecuted, the NAN reports.

DSP Kenneth Nwosu, the Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman, who confirmed the development to NAN on Tuesday, however, said the suspects would soon be arraigned.

Nwosu also assured the residents of a crime-free election on Saturday. “We have nine persons arrested for disrupting the election and we are looking into their cases and they will be charged to court.

“In the course of the hitch-free general election, we had minimal number of arrest, probably the lowest in the federation which is because of the security measures we were able to put in place,” he said.

According to him, a minor security adjustment has been made by the command for an improved security ahead of the April 11 polls.

Nwosu said the command had mobilised its combat units to ensure a hitch-free election on Saturday.

“Our sister agencies are willing to partner with us just like they did during Presidential and National Assembly elections to ensure a crime free Governorship House of Assembly elections,” he said.
