Gov. Orji inaugurates handover committee

Abia state governor, Theodore Orji, Eastern Nigeria on Friday afternoon inaugurated a 10-man transition committee members that will see to the smooth hand over to the new government.
Performing the inauguration ceremony at Exco Chambers, Government House, Umuahia, the out-going governor charged the Committee to receive all the handover notes from all the ministries, parastatals and agencies.
He also charged them to work out modalities for a smooth transition of the incoming government while expressing optimism that Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu’s government who is also a PDP member will work with the Committee as a team.
The 10-man Transition Committee member is headed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Mkpa Agu Mkpa.
Other members include; Dr Eme Okoro, Chief Theo Nkire, the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barr Umeh Kalu, Lady Chinedu Brown, Hon. Eziuche Ubani, Chief Chijioke Nwakodo, Hon Iboko Imo Iboko, Barr Uche Ihediwa, Hon. Solomon Ogunji, Engr. Emma Nwabuko, Arc Benson Ezem and Chief Gabriel Onyedilefu.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairmen of the Handover Committee, Prof Mkpa Agu Mkpa thanked the governor for giving them the opportunity to serve in the committee and promised not to disappoint him.
“What you directed us is what we are going to do. We will put in our best to ensure that come May 29, there will be a smooth transition which will usher in a new government,” Mkpa promised.
