Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state, Southwest, Nigeria has reinstated his promise to fulfill all his electioneering campaign promises to all the students in the state.

The governor maintained that his second term will be made to complement the good work he started in 2011, pledging to improve on the provision of infrastructural facilities in all tertiary institutions.

Amosun stated this during an award presentation to some personalties of the state as part of activities marking the Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese- Ijebu Students’ Union Government, SUG week.

The event was themed “Role of Health Practitioners in the advancement of primary health care delivery system in Nigeria”.

The students leadership had reminded the governor of his promises during his electioneering campaign to their college.

The SUG President, Comrade Abosede Ogunkoya requested from the governor the quick accreditation of some of the courses in the school alongside other infrastructural promises.

In his response, the Senior Special Assistant, SSA on Political Matters, Prince Adeniyi Adesanya, who represented the governor disclosed that all the promises made by the governor during his campaign will be fulfilled, adding that, slow and steady wins the race.

According to him, “the governor is a man of mission and I want to use this medium to thank you all for the support you gave to us during the election, we will not disappoint you.

“On all your requests, the governor will never say anything that he will not do. I have known him for many years. When he was here during the campaign, I remember he promised to work on the bad roads within the college when the dualisation of Oke-Owa – Ilese- Ijebu Imusin-Ijebu Ife- Itele road begins.

“Other requests like hostels with modern facilities; 2,500 seater auditorium, accreditation of some courses in the college, construction of standard laboratories and lots more will be attended to but I want you to remember that the state has the largest number of higher institutions in the country and the governor will attend to others too. I want to enjoin you to maintain peace, eschew violence and shun all acts of vices.

“We are committed to ensuring that dividends of democracy cut across all nooks and crannies of the state, especially the education sector. You should know that since the inception of this government in 2011, education has been having the largest share in the budget. I want to promise you that this present administration led by our dynamic and amible governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun is committed to raising the standard of education in the state,” he said.

The Provost of the College, Dr. Abiodun Oladunjoye thanked the governor for his support and committment towards the development of education in the state.

Oladunjoye solicited for more infrastructural and financial support to the College, calling on the governor to expedite action on the accreditation exercise of some of the courses in the college.

He disclosed that the College has been neglected by the past government, hinting that, it has been with little or no assistance but praised the gallantry efforts of his predecessor, Dr.Tunji Dawodu.

Findings revealed that about 60 per cent courses are yet to be accredited. Some of the courses yet to be accredited are: Pharmacy Technician, Phamarcy Technology, Public Health Nursing, Dental Technology, Social Work, Computer, Nutrition & Dentistry among others.

Seventeen indigenes of Ogun state were honoured with the distinguished award, among them are the Ogun East APC senatorial candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Hon.
