Ogun PM News correspondent emerges CONVEYOL pioneer

The correspondent of The News/PM News in Ogun state, Comrade Abiodun Onafuye has been elected as the pioneer Secretary General of the Conference of Veteran Youth Leaders, Ogun state, CONVEYOL.

Also, elected is Comrade Tola Adenekan of the State Ministry of Information and Strategy as the pioneer President of the group.

CONVEYOL is a congregation of the past national and state leaders of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, the apex body of all youth organisations in the country.

The election which was held on Tuesday at the organisation’s temporary office, located inside the Lands and Survey Bureau office, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta had in attendance past youth leaders from all the 20 local government council areas of the state.

The group is aimed at considering the welfarism of the past leaders in the state and as well serves as a guide and mirror for the current leadership of the NYCN in the state.

Also, the group is to play an advisory role to the state council of NYCN in some of its programmes and activities.

In his acceptance speech, the elected president, Tola Adenekan, who was a former National Public Relations Officer, PRO of NYCN thanked all members for the trust reposed on him and other elected members and promised to work with all his cabinet members.

He promised to ensure that the group relates with the government to facilitate policies and programmes that will be beneficial for the teeming youth in the state.

Speaking with newsmen after the election, the Secretary General urged members to support the executive for the success and progress of the group.

Onafuye, who was a former National Public Relations Officer, PRO of NYCN called on the state government to continue with its good programmes for the youths, assuring it of the group’s support.

Other elected officers are; Revd. Olubode Dahunsi, Deputy President; Comrade (Mrs) Magraet Adeleke, Director of Finance; Comrade (Mrs) Yinka Odukoya, Finance Officer; Comrade Kamardeen Adebajo, Director of Organisation and Comrade Adeyemi Badejo, Director of Publicity.

Meanwhile, all hands are on deck for the coming state congress of the NYCN slated for July 9-12.
