Keshi Laments Bad Shape Of National Stadium
The bad state of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos is given Chief Coach of the Super Eagles a serious concern.
Keshi recalled the glorious days of the sports city when the stadium was a darling venue for the country’s football teams especially the Eagles.
“As a player, the National Stadum, Lagos was the best for me, the most exciting to play football and the fasn were so marvelous. I wish someday we could go back there but the playing turf is bad now,” Keshi told www.footballlive.ng.

Keshi noted that though his best stadium experience was in Lagos; in his playing days, his best stadium experience as a coach remains the U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar, Cross River State.
While reacting to Kaduna’s Amadu Bello Stadium which was selected by Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to host the Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad next month, Keshi seemed to have no problem with the choice as he acknowledged that the North-West zone had been good hosts in the past.
“Kaduna is good, a friendly atmosphere is assured all the time we’ve been there,” he noted.
He, however, disclosed that he has no guaranteed starters from the 26 home based players invited for the AFCON qualifiers as he would evaluate the local players as soon as training commences. He added that he is yet to see the players, suggesting the players penciled down for the first leg of the AFCON qualifiers against Chad had not entirely been his idea.
“I don’t know the starting XI and until I see what we have on ground I can’t speculate. We’ll see how the players perform in training then we can draw up a list,” he said.
