Residents in Ijebu-Ode on Saturday urged the Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun to sustain the good governance and complete key projects from his first term in the office.

Most of the residents, in separate interviews with NAN in Ijebu-Ode after the sworn-in of the governor for a second term, expressed hope and better change for the state.

Otunba Olasubomi Salisu, the Babalaje of Ita-Osun Market in Ijebu-Ode said, “The present administration has embarked on laudable programmes, which we pray that it will be able to complete.”

“Government did very well in the area of security as we no longer have sleepless nights.

“Also, I want to use this medium to implore the governor to improve on social amenities in our markets,” he said.

Mr Adeshina Adesanya , a Civil Servant, said the present administration under Gov. Amosun has done very well in the funding of infrastructural projects.

“He has been able to fund projects like rehabilitation of roads, building of schools, health centres among others.

“I also expect the government to ensure that all ongoing projects are completed in time,” Adesanya said.

Mr Olawale Ajayi, a Secondary School teacher, said though the state government was contributing a lot to promoting quality education, more should be done in improving teachers’ welfare.

“I expect him to promote personnel welfare like promotion incentives and provision of adequate infrastructure for schools,” he said.

Mr Olusegun Omolade, a communications consultant, told NAN that government needed to be commended for its laudable achievements in the area of roads construction and rehabilitation.

“When you come to Ijebu-Ode, there are many roads, which government was constructing presently, so government must be commended.

“However, I want the state government to embark on rural integration and community empowerment, which is very important in stemming rural-urban migration,” Omolade said.

Miss Kemisola Jimoh, a student, appealed to the government to come to the aid of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) by providing more infrastructure and rehabilitating the school’s road network.

“Our bursary allowances should also be reviewed and paid regularly, and our school fees should be reduce to afford more people access to education,” she said.

NAN reports that most of the residents said they would be on the look out to see how the governor responds to their challenges and fulfils his campaign promises.
