FIFA would delay the bidding to host the 2026 World Cup because of a high-profile investigation into alleged corruption at the world football governing body, a top official said on Wednesday.

Jerome Valcke, the FIFA secretary general, said at a conference that it would be absurd to begin the next bidding amid the current scandal.
Report says Russia will host the 2018 World Cup.

Canada, Mexico and Colombia have so far expressed intentions to host the tournament in 2026.
