Rep. Ajayi Adeyinka (Osun-APC), representing Odo Itin/Ifelodun/Boripe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, on Friday described the quarrel over principal positions in the lower chamber on Thursday as embarrassing.
Adeyinka told NAN that the commotion was a sad point in the country’s democratic experience.
“It is really embarrassing; people are beginning to understand that democracy will be about differences.
“We would learn, as times go on, how to resolve our differences without throwing tantrums or causing rancour; that will be the next stage.”
It will be recalled that rancorous lawmakers in the lower chamber engaged in vicious exchanges over the election of principal officers of the House.
Two factions emerged in the House with one supporting the ruling All Progressives Congress’ insistence to choose the House principal officers, and the other, backing the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, who insisted on defying the party.
