Bank customers in Kogi has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to extend the closing date for the registration of Bank Verification Number (BVN).

The customers, who made the called when they spoke with NAN in Lokoja on Tuesday, said the extension was necessary to enable them to complete their registrations.

A Civil Servant, Mr Segun Ishola, reasoned that since many customers had not registered, the CBN ought to extend the date by at least one month to enable to do son.

Ishola opined that not allowing people to register for the BVN would discourage people from banking.

“We cannot afford to lose our account because of BVN registration,” Ishola said.

Another customer, Mr Jude Obadiah, accused the CBN and the commercial banks of not making adequate public enlightenment on the exercise.

Obadiah said that most customers did not know what the BVN was all about, especially the uneducated customers.

“There is need to extend the closing date to give opportunity to those who find it difficult to register at the end of today,” Obadiah said.
