FIFA and CAF instructor, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, will be among the resource persons who will give lectures at the coaching clinic organised by Teslim Balogun Foundation on Saturday at Strong Tower Academy Indoor Sports Hall Sports, Ikorodu, Lagos.

The coaching clinic is organised for all the coaches whose teams are taking part in the ongoing U-17 Teslim Thunder Balogun Football Competition.

Speaking with journalists in Lagos, a member of Teslim Balogun Foundation, Engineer Rasheed Balogun confirmed that Onigbinde has given his consent to be at the clinic this weekend.

“We are organising this seminar so that our local coaches may have knowledge about the latest rules of the game. We only want to organise it for the coaches whose teams are taking part in the ongoing U-17 Teslim Thunder Balogun Football Competition. I want to use this medium to advise our coaches to take the lecture seriously because person like Onigbinde and others we have invited are vast when it comes to football matters and laws of the game,” he said.

Aside Onigbinde, the organisers have also invited Nigerian FIFA badged referee, Jelili Ogunmuyiwa to talk about fair officiating in the field of play.

Commenting on the U-17 Teslim Thunder Balogun tourney, Balogun said he was satisfied with the level of officiating, organization and standard of play by all the participating teams.

He said the reports he received from the committee showed that this year’s edition is better organised.

“Thirty nine matches have been played so far and 169 goals have been scored in the group stage. It means that this year’s edition has witnessed more goals than previous editions. I must commend all the teams for the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited throughout the group stage and the teams in the knockout stage. I wish them best of luck,” said Balogun.
