Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, NTTF, has postponed the closed camping of its players ahead of the 11th All Africa Games scheduled to hold in Congo Brazzaville in September.

The NTTF had called up 20 players for the closed camping, which was scheduled to commence on Monday.

Africa’s most decorated table tennis player, Olympian Segun Toriola and 2014 ITTF Star Player, Aruna Quadri topped the list of players invited to camp.

“Yes, we are supposed to kick off our camping today, but we are awaiting the directives from the NSC. Almost all the players are in town already, but hopefully we are awaiting the arrival of Quadri and Funke Oshonaike in Lagos this week,” said Coach Bello.

P.M.NEWS Sports, however, gathered from a source in the federation that the postponement might not be unconnected with the ongoing Ramadan being observed by Muslim faithful.

The source assured that as soon as the Ramadan is over this weekend, the camp will be opened.

Nigeria’s table tennis team finished second behind Egypt with three gold medals at the last edition of the All Africa Games in Mozambique.
