Police Kill 2 Robbery Suspects

The police in Delta State, on Wednesday, said they had killed two armed robbery suspects in Asaba.

Police spokesperson, DSP Celestina Kalu, said in a statement that the two suspects were felled during a shootout when they tried to escape from a robbery scene in Asaba on Tuesday.

According to the statement, “one Mrs Patience Okaka, on August 4, reported at the GRA Police Station in Asaba that four armed robbers have attacked her home.

“She said the hoodlums gained entrance into her bedroom by pulling down the burglary proof in the window.

Nigeria Police Logo“The victim also said the criminals succeeded in robbing her of her wrist watches, cell phones, clothes and electronics.’’

The statement said the hoodlums also took away the victim’s Honda Acura saloon car with Reg. No. AKD 218 CX.

It said upon receipt of the report, police patrol teams went after the armed robbers.

“The hoodlums opened fire on sighting the policemen and in the ensuing gun battle, two of the hoodlums were gunned down while the remaining two robbers abandoned the stolen car and managed to escape.’’

It listed some of the items recovered from the suspects to include the victim’s Honda car, one mock gun, one jack knife and an ATM card.

Other items included a driver’s licence and national identity card belonging to one Odidika Amaechi, “apparently one of the hoodlums.’’

The statement said the command would ensure it apprehended the fleeing members of the gang.
