Director General National Sports Commission, NSC, Al Hassan Yakmut, has commended the organisers of the 2015 Milo Basketball Top 50 Camp which was facilitated by NBA coaches from United States and sponsored by Nestlé Nigeria Plc.

The camp, which dunked off on Monday, came to a close Wednesday at the gymnasium of the National Institute of Sports (NIS) inside the National Stadium, Lagos.

Yakmut, who was present at the closing ceremony of the camp, said of the Top 50 programme: “It is a very good programme targeted at the growth and development of basketball in the country. The players here are the ones expected to make it to the National teams”.

The DG advised the players to ensure they give their correct ages.

“You should not lie about your age. Make sure you apply those life values you were taught in camp – discipline, honesty, responsibility and team work”.

The National Sports Commission, according to Yakmut, is ever ready and prepared to make its facilities available for such sports programme.

The Milo Top 50 Camp facilitated the chances of the talents discovered from various conferences across the country at the last edition of the Milo Secondary School Basketball Championship held early this year to further develop their skills through world class coaching.

As usual the facilitator, United States Of America-based Masai Ujiri alongside five other NBA coaches, Patrick Mutombo (Asst. Coach Denver Nuggets), Ime Udoka (Asst. Coach San Antonio Spurs), Jama Mahlalela (Asst. Coach Toronto Raptors) and Patrick Englebrecht (Toronto Raptors International Scouting Director), worked with 18 Nigerian coaches at the Top 50 Camp to ensure the players got quality training.
