3 Die In Lagos Auto Accident

A road accident has claimed the lives of three persons on Ajah-Epe road, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

The accident was a head-on collission between a passenger bus, with registration number AAA 868 XJ and a trailer convening a earth moving machine.

The accident occurred around 10.00am on Tuesday.

Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe, told P.M.NEWS that the accident involved a passenger bus owned by ‘The Young Shall Grow’, with 13 passengers on board.

He said the bus was at top speed when the accident occurred.

He explained that the articulated trailer was conveying the earth moving machine which was not properly latched to the trailer, with a part of the machine shooting out of the vehicle.

Fadipe said the bus rammed into the jutting part of the machine and three male passengers in the bus who were trapped by the machine died immediately.

He said those injured had been rushed to Epe General Hospital, Epe.

Fadipe appealed to travellers not to overspeed in order to avert avoidable accidents.

He also appealed to owners of articulated trucks to ensure that whatever they were conveying were properly latched on to the trucks to prevent them from falling off or causing havoc on Lagos roads.
