A 43-year old pharmaceutical company’s sale representatives has been arrested and charged before Ejigbo Magistrates’ court for diverting the company’s car and products worth N4m in Lagos State, western Nigeria.

The suspect, Ndubueze Samuel was employed by Elb Pharmaceutical Nigeria Limited in Ilupeju as sale’s representatives to market and sell their products.

Samuel was reportedly given a KIA saloon car with registration number, SMK 485 CC, valued at N2.8m as his official car.

Police logoThe company gave him some pharmaceutical products worth over one million to him to sell on behalf of the company.

Unknown to the company, Samuel had other plans after he took possession of the car and products.

Samuel took both the car and the products and went to Ariara market in Aba, Abia State, eastern Nigeria, and allegedly sold both the car and the products and escaped.

After waiting for him in vain, the company’s management reported the matter to the police who trailed and arrested him.

At the station, he confessed that he was tempted to do so and offered to return the car and refund the money for the product he collected from the company.

To show his willingness, he issued a Diamond bank cheque with serial number 31229473 which was rejected for lack of sufficient cash after it was presented to the bank for payment.

He was charged to court for obtaining under false pretence, stealing and issuing a dud cheque under the Criminal Code.

He pleaded not guilty and the presiding Magistrate, Mrs J.O.E. Adeyemi granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when he will perfect his bail.

The matter was adjourned till 30 September 2015.
