Malaysian police said on Sunday in Kuala Lumpur that security forces discovered 24 bodies of suspected trafficked Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants in graves in a village near the Thai border.

Shafie Ismail, Police Chief of Perlis, said the 24 human remains had been sent to hospital for post-mortem.

He said the remains, all in an advanced stage of decomposition, were discovered by patrolling troops in Wang Burma village, after rains washed away the soil during the past few days.

Shafie said the corpses were discovered adjacent the village where more than 100 remains of suspected Myanmar Rohingya and Bangladeshi migrants were recovered in May.

He said operations in the border areas with Thailand to stop human traffickers and other criminals would continue.
