The national executive council of Islamic Musicians Association of Nigeria (ISMAN) has suspended two top members, Alhaji Ahmodu Alawiye and Alhaji Ibrahim Labaeka indefinitely.
They were suspended on Wednesday at the national executive council meeting held at the national headquarters, Rahamotul Islamiya Mosque, Ikeja. Lagos.
The association in a statement issued by the National Assistant PRO, Alhaji Sodiq Mars Malaika, disclosed that it was resolved at the association’s NEC meeting that Alawiye and Labaeka be suspended indefinitely over allegations the association described as barbaric conduct, extortion and other social vices.
The disclaimer further reads:: “ISMAN is an assemblage of reputable Islamic musicians who eulogize the name of Allah through educative, inspiring melodies and responsible music. Thus, it can’t afford its name and reputation to be dragged in the mud by some unscrupulous or disgruntled elements who are neither financially committed nor morally involved in the glory of ISMAN, by encouraging piracy, barbaric conduct, extortion and other social vices.”
These, the group said, could soil its image hence, “Ahmad Alawiye and Ibrahim Labaeka have been suspended indefinitely by ISMAN.”
The statement also warned that “because they are wolves in sheep’s clothing, ISMAN members are warned to dissociate themselves from them. We strongly advise dignitaries and the general public not to have any transaction with this set of people using the name of ISMAN.”
Alhaji Wasiu Kayode As-sideeq, ISMAN National President confirmed the indefinite suspension, saying “the duo have been suspended indefinitely over their anti-association activities.”
All efforts to speak with Alawiye and Labaeka proved abortive as Alawiye did not pick his calls while Labaeka’s mobile phone was switched off.
