As President Muhammadu Buhari marks his 100 days in office, the administration has been given above average performance in office.

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, JCC, in Ogun State hailed the President in a statement issued today and signed by the State Chairman, Comrade Dotun Opaleye, ak.a. Zamora.

NANS stated that undertaking periodic review of the performances of the representatives and leaders is part of ways to deepen democracy in order to entrench accountability.

Assessing the Buhari administration in the last 100 days, NANS declared that in terms of the economy, the APC-led government has restored confidence of the investors, but disclosed that the inability to name someone as the Finance Minister and appointment of other ministers is causing a major setback in economic policy formulation.
The students’ body praised the government for the improvement witnessed so far in the area of power generation, corruption and fight against insurgency.

NANS however appealed to the President to assist in getting the innocent girls abducted last year by the Boko Haram insurgents as promised during their electioneering campaign.

According to the statement, “many investors are still in a state of limbo as to what to expect from this new administration. Buhari has also managed to stabilize the naira against further slide against the dollar.
“Power supply has also improved mainly due to the fear of Buhari’s no nonsense personality rather than any pragmatic move by Mr President. We still await large amount of megawatts promised by the APC during the last presidential campaigns.

“Security especially in the Northeast has improved slightly. We believe that the three months ultimatum handed down by Buhari to his Service Chiefs is a wonderful step in the right direction, as we eagerly anticipate the return of the Chibok girls abducted on the 14th of April, 2014 by the mindless group tagged Boko Haram.

“It is incredibly mind-boggling that the #bringbackourgirls group have been loudly silent during President Buhari’s administration raising doubts about the sincerity and non partisanship of the leaders of the group who were very audible and conspicuous during the Jonathan era.

“Politically, Buhari has been fairly consistent with his ideology. His intention of restoring the defunct National Carrier, the Nigeria Airways, reveals people oriented approach and his socialist leanings.”

The Ogun NANS JCC however advised President Muhammadu Buhari to start with short term plan to improve the lot of the average Nigerian, saying “from all indications, we rate President Buhari’s performances in his first 100 days in office 6.5 over 10, which is a credit pass and very good, considering what was on ground when he came on board.”
