The Kano State Police Command, said it had arrested two armed robbery suspects wearing army uniform on Kano-Maidiguri road and Kano-Zaria expressway.

The spokesman of the command, ASP Magaji Majiya, made the disclosure on Thursday in Kano while briefing newsmen.

He said that the first suspect, Rabi’u Hamisu, was arrested on September 1 on the Kano-Maiduguri road.

He said that Hamisu and three others now at large barricaded the highway and attacked motorists.

“They snatched a Golf car, stole N40, 000 and other valuable items from a motorist,” he said.

The police image maker said the second suspect, Tasi’u Ashiru, who also wore police uniform, was arrested on Aug. 30 on Kano-Zaria expressway with sophisticated weapons.

He said that Ashiru confessed that he and his gang of four, operated between Mararaba, Jos and Birnin Yero road and Kano-Zaria expressway.

Majiya said that the police had commenced investigation, while efforts were being intensified to arrest the other fleeing hoodlums, adding that suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation was completed.
