The National Sports Commission, NSC, has set up a Technical Study Group (TSG) to monitor the performance of Team Nigeria in the ongoing All Africa Games in Congo-Brazzaville.

It was exclusively gathered that the setting up of the TSG was due to President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive to the NSC to ensure improvement in Nigeria’s performance at international sporting engagements.

The Director General of the Commission, Mallam Alhassan Yakmut, consequently inaugurated an 11-man Technical Study Group (TSG) for the 11th All Africa Games.

The TSG is an independent assessment team made up of seasoned sports administrators, sports scientists and former international athletes.

According to Dr. Kweku Tandoh, who is a member of the TSG, the terms of reference include monitoring the performance of Nigeria’s athletes and coaches, identifying problems and challenges that may affect Team Nigeria positively or negatively, coming up with recommendations that will improve performance in future Games among others.

Tandoh, former Director of Sports, Lagos State, said in an interview from Congo Saturday that the group is expected to submit a comprehensive report to the National Sports Commission at the end of the Games.

The TSG has since commenced work in Congo Brazzaville.
