Four pilgrims from Gombe State and one from Kaduna State on pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia have been confirmed dead, following the crane accident at Holy Mosque in Makkah which killed as many as 107 people.

The number of the dead may soon rise as another pilgrim from Gombe is still missing.

Secretary of Gombe State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board, Malam Usman Gurama said one of the dead victims was from Akko, one from Dukku and two from Nafada.

A pilgrim from Kaduna State has also been identified as one of the 107 people that died in Saudi Arabia on Friday.

Head of Media, Kaduna State Task Force 2015, Alhaji Saidu Adamu said in a statement on Sunday that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has identified the deceased as Alhaji Adamu Shuaibu Kargi who hailed from Kubau local government of the state.

The late Adamu’s family, he said, has already been notified of the tragedy.
