President Francois Hollande of France has countered Nigeria’s main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by stating that Nigeria’s economy remains very strong.
Hollande stated this on Monday at the Elysee Palace in Paris after a closed door bilateral meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria, who is on a three-day official visit to France.
The French president noted that in spite of the falling price of crude oil in the international market, which has affected Nigeria’s expected revenue, the country’s economy still remained strong.
“The Nigerian economy remains strong so, France wants to be doing business in the country,” Hollande said
Hollande said that France intended to increase the visibility of its investors more in Nigeria.
It would be recalled that the PDP stated that Buhari and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) were running Nigeria’s economy aground, adding that, the econony has been on a downward slide since Buhari took over.
“Whereas the PDP is in full support of the President’s efforts in tackling corruption and insurgency, the party is however concerned about the grave economic situation we now face, as well as indices from global economic watchers, which this administration has failed to give deserving attention, despite its predictable negative impact,” a statement signed by PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, said.
