Robbers and other criminals are now facing hard times in Ogun as police detectives attached to Sagamu on Tuesday, arrested four suspected armed robbers during their operation at Atoyo area of Sagamu in Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

In a release Wednesday afternoon, signed by the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the four arrested suspects are Abdul Sulaiman, Tola Awonusi, Aliu Sulaiman and Fred Dada.

They were arrested at about 5:30pm with various items which include guns, charms and their operational motorcycle.

In another development,the detectives attached to Odogbolu Division of the command, with the help of men of the Vigilante Services of Ogun State, arrested a suspected armed robber same day at about 11:30 pm at Ayegbe town in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state.

The police detectives, who were responding to a distress call from the town that robbers had gained entrance into the house of a landlord (name withheld), swung into action, dislodged the robbers and arrested one suspect.

The suspect, Yekini Adesanya, 30, of Songo village, Ogun State was arrested with bullet wounds.

One of the residents who was hit by bullets was taken to the hospital by the police to receive urgent medical attention.

It was gathered that the injured man is responding to treatment at the hospital.

The state Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, has directed that the suspects be transferred to Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, DCIID, Eleweran, Abeokuta for proper investigation and prosecution.

He thanked members of the affected communities who made distress calls to the police for their support in fighting crime in the state and vowed that criminals would be flushed out of the state.
