Solomon Adeola, senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District has described the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Segun Adewale popularly referred to as Aeroland, as a “frivolous distraction”.

Adeola said this after the Lagos State National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal dismissed the petition against his victory over the weekend, noting that, his victory was the popular mandate from the people.

The senator who was addressing his supporters following the victory said that he was happy that the judgment which lasted for two and half hours was not determined on technical grounds as the tribunal stated that in spite of the petition falling short on many technical grounds, the case was determine on its merit.

“I am happy that the Tribunal has affirmed the mandate freely given to me on March 28. I had no doubt that the tribunal would vindicate me but was unease about the case being decided on technical grounds as this would not be a validation in the true sense. The tribunal chairman and members after agreeing that the case of the petitioner lack merit on several technical grounds nevertheless went ahead to consider the case and dismiss it in its entirety” Senator Adeola stated.
